  • 5 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 cup green onions (packed)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup potato starch (or cornstarch)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp chicken bouillon powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • Dipping sauce: soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, finely chopped green onion

Instructions

  1. Thoroughly wash and dry the green onions, then chop them into 1.5-inch pieces.
  2. In a large bowl, combine chopped green onions with flour, potato starch, baking powder, salt, chicken bouillon powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and cold water. Mix gently until combined.
  3. Heat a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 2.5 tablespoons of vegetable oil.
  4. Once hot, add the green onion mixture and spread evenly in the pan.
  5. Cook until golden brown on one side (about 3 minutes), then flip carefully and cook the other side until golden as well (another 2-3 minutes).
  6. Transfer to a cutting board and slice into wedges.
  7. For the dipping sauce, mix soy sauce with rice vinegar and sesame oil in a small bowl.
