  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 large white onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 330 ml dark beef broth
  • 300 ml beef stock
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
  2. In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and brown.
  3. Sauté chopped onion until soft, then add minced garlic for one minute.
  4. Sprinkle flour into the pan and cook for a minute to form a roux.
  5. Gradually pour in dark beef broth while stirring, then add beef stock, tomato paste, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened.
  6. Transfer filling to a pie dish, cover with puff pastry, seal edges with a fork, and brush with beaten egg.
  7. Bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown.
