  • 1 lb turkey sausage, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups uncooked long grain rice
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional garnish: chopped green onions or parsley

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the sliced sausage until browned, then set aside.
  2. In the same pan, sauté the chopped onion until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the uncooked rice, toasting it for a few minutes until lightly golden.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and barbecue sauce, scraping any bits from the pan.
  5. Return the sausage to the pan, bring to a simmer, cover, and reduce heat to low.
  6. Let simmer for about 18–20 minutes until rice is tender.
  7. Remove from heat and let sit covered for five minutes before fluffing with a fork.
