  • Zest and juice of oranges
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for filling)
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • 3 Tbsp unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 2 tsp orange zest (for glaze)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 Tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water; set aside.
  2. Heat milk until hot but not boiling; mix in salt, sugar, and butter until dissolved.
  3. Combine potato flakes with hot water until smooth; add to milk mixture.
  4. In a stand mixer, combine the yeast mixture and beaten egg with the milk mix; gradually add flour to form a sticky dough.
  5. Knead for 5-10 minutes until smooth; let it rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for about an hour.
  6. For the filling, mix sugar, ginger, orange zest, and enough orange juice to form a thick mixture.

  8. Roll tightly from one edge; cut into pieces and let rise again for another 30-60 minutes.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Prepare glaze by mixing cream cheese, powdered sugar, zest, and juice; spread over warm rolls.
