  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 8 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté diced bell pepper and onion in olive oil for about 5 minutes until softened.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper; mix until just combined.
  4. In a loaf pan, layer half of the meat mixture at the bottom. Add four slices of provolone cheese followed by the sautéed vegetables.
  5. Top with the remaining meat mixture and seal the edges firmly.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes; during the last five minutes, add four more slices of provolone on top to melt.
  7. Let the meatloaf rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
