Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/3 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for frying)
  • 1 medium onion (sliced or chopped)
  • 8 ounces cremini mushrooms (sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 3/4 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, egg, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and shape into four oval patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté sliced onions and mushrooms until seared, about 7-9 minutes.
  4. Lower heat to medium and add butter to the skillet. Once melted, sprinkle in flour while continuously stirring for about 1-2 minutes to cook off the raw flour taste.
  5. Gradually whisk in beef broth while stirring to dissolve lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder.
  6. Return the sautéed onions and mushrooms along with any juices from the cooked patties back into the skillet. Nestle the patties into the gravy mixture and let everything simmer together for another 5-7 minutes.
  7. Serve over mashed potatoes or rice.
