  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 11/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon dry parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 1-1/2 quart casserole dish.
  2. In a fry pan over medium heat, melt butter and sauté onions and garlic until tender.
  3. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper. Gradually whisk in milk until thickened.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the casserole dish, pour half of the sauce over them. Repeat layers.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle with parsley, and bake an additional 15 minutes.
  6. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
