Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 packets active dry yeast (1/2 oz. total)
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 cup salted butter (melted)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 1/3 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare the yeast mixture by dissolving yeast and sugar in warm water. Heat milk with remaining sugar, salt, and butter until lukewarm.
  2. Combine the egg with the yeast mixture and mix with the warmed milk and flour. Stir until well combined, then let rest for 15 minutes.
  3. Knead the dough using a stand mixer for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (176°C). Shape dough into 24 balls and tie each into a knot. Let rise for about 25 minutes.
  5. While dough rises, mix melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, and salt for the topping.
  6. Brush rolls with garlic-herb butter and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese before baking for about 10–15 minutes until golden brown.
